Is your home really ready to welcome guests during the Diwali celebrations that are around the corner? If not then here’s a story for you, which speaks of a miracle that occurred last year.
Finally, Somadri Da returned from Brussels after a tedious 4-year gap and was planning a reunion with cousins at his new Rajarhat flat.
Only a week or two was left in hand and he had no clue of how to proceed with the interior decor. Thankfully, the flat wasn’t fully furnished or he would have to work his fingers to the bone.
Somehow or the other, he got an access to Tranterior, one of the leading interior design companies in and outside Kolkata.
Diwali Is Not Just About Being Loud
The colour scheme advised to him by the experts, brought in a balance between subtlety and grandeur.
Right from the living room to the bedroom, every space was infused with a metallic touch.
Not to forget, Diwali is preceded by the auspicious occasion of Dhanteras where people buy gold and silver as tokens of fortune.
Rich Indian fabrics are mostly woven with golden thread and one in the choicest rose pink hue was selected.
Sporting an ethnic pattern, the bedspread certainly seems to draw a line between the traditional and the contemporary without much of a difference.
A single piece of furniture other than a lucite table by the bed would have appeared out of place in that quaint ambience.
The final magic was done by the brightly lit candles on the Diwali night.
Silver on the Wall
The absence of colour in the living room doesn’t make quite a difference to the festive vibe and is a transition to the eyes.
A contemporary chandelier facing the coffee table glistened joyfully to dazzle the guests.
Sleek furniture with clean lines were selected to enhance the uber-cool attribute of the room so that the crazy NRI bunch finds solace in it amidst the high decibel pollution.
The main attraction of the living area was the silver wallpaper in an ethnic pattern, behind the sofa.
A silver-base table lamp was used to accentuate in the most minimal yet grand way.
It Is Good to Be Eccentric At Times
The 2 bhk flat felt like a Diwali bonanza packed with surprises as one moved from one room to another.
The wall between the living area and the kitchen is a ‘wow’ space that really stunned many and made them nostalgic at the same time.
This was due to Transterior’s exclusive suggestion of adding some neon colours in the form of stickers, toys and things quirky.
The Bachelor’s Kitchen
The cute eating bar adjacent to the kitchen countertop flaunted its classic dark wood texture complementing the light beige walls.
Simple fairy lights were hung from the curtain rods that produced a mesmerizing effect with the sheer white drapes.
The natural light coming in through the floor-length window filled the room with radiance, while the view of the dark sky with fireworks acted as a dramatic canvas at night!
A hand-made picture of a white elephant in a gold background created a euphoric ambience.
All of this excitement reached its climax with servings of piping hot mutton biryani washed down with glasses of desi ‘chaas’.
Nothing would have been quite possible without Transterior perhaps, the only professional interior designer in town that easily tackles whatever situation your home is in.
